“GAURANG” Opens his Flagship Store in New Delhi

Textile and Fashion Revivalist Gaurang shah opened his label ‘GAURANG‘ hand-woven luxury-fashion flagship clothing store in New Delhi, India.

After establishing his store in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkatta and in Mumbai, The Textile Designer, went ahead to open his seventh store and first in Defence Colony, New Delhi after many of his hi-profile clients requests to open in Delhi.

According to Textile Designer Gaurang Shah. “Delhi is a key market for our label, and is also one of the most important destinations for premium fashion, design and art, which makes it an ideal location to showcase our luxury handcrafted women and men’s fashion brand.”

The new store is spacious well laid out, the kalamkari drawn walls combined with an exquisite premium line of GAURANG clothing’s gallery made in Cotton, Silks and Khadi set in an enticing ambience that blends vintage traditions with modern design.

Known for his modern twists to Jamdani Weaves in the high-end handlooms, the new store offers an array of handcrafted Sari’s and suits, from his popular bridal and all occasions wear collections from his ‘Ardhangini’ ‘Gulbadan’ ‘Kalpavriksha’ ‘Chitra-sena’ and the most recent ‘Umrao’ collections that Gaurang presented at the IIFA Awards in Malaysia. Overall,the collection presented at the store will be based on the brand’s deep-rooted heritage and the unique vision of its label “GAURANG”.

Award winning Textile and Fashion Designer Gaurang Shah known for his revival of vintage art of Jamdani weaves presented his exclusive collection ‘Noor’ at the majestic Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad on Saturday evening ​amidst live Sufi music. The designer showcased 15 outfits and sarees from his ‘Noor’ collections.

The show was in support of a fund-raiser towards improvement of literacy in government schools for a not-for-profit organization in south of India.

Some of the most famous face of filmdom and celebrated woman from different walks of life walked for the cause. Lakshmi Manchu, Regina Cassandra, Mehak Murthy, Mithali Raj, Ritu Verma, Sandhya Raju, Sanjjanna , Lavanya Tripathi, Samrat and Navdeep.

Dia Mirza walked the ramp as the show stopper in Gaurang’s beautiful hand-woven Paithani Jamdani sari to support the cause. Styling for the show was done by Pallavi Datta an ardent Stylist, writer, and promoter of sustainable and eco-friendly fashion.

“It is a privilege for me to have been given an opportunity to be part of an initiative that has so much support from all walks of life to improve the overall literacy standards at the Government schools. Gaurang Shah said. An event like this also expands promotion of arts and it is a tribute to Indian textile and its rich heritage.

Through my creation ‘Noor’, a mix of his ready-to wear and festive wear created using the jamdani weave technique I learnt over the years I want to convince people that early education can do a lot of wonderful things and make a difference in every profession if children acquire literacy to pursue what they love and passionate about.” Gaurang added.

Gaurang fantastically brought alive the Indian culture and heritage in the form embellishments, weaves, embroideries, drapery and textures providing his clothes contemporary edge. The exquisite gold statement pieces Jewellery worn by the models added just right glitter to the presentation.

The who’s who of the city was present at the fashion show on Saturday evening in support of the cause​. Shashi Tharoor was also seen enjoying the show.

Award Winning Fashion Designer from Hyderabad Gaurang Shah will present a collection celebrating the perfect amalgamation of Rajasthani kota jamdani weaves and intricate Lucknowi chikankari embroidery at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week Indian Textile Day in Mumbai, March 25, this year.

Gaurang will showcase 16 of his classic hand-woven designs, woven majestically to capture the vibes of the coming summer season highlighting the graceful art of interlacing yarns, the warp and the weft. One of the garments that Gaurang Shah has created uses 28 metres of fabric. It will be worn by a model with a 28-inch waist.

His collections will combine the raw texture of royal Rajasthan and the inimitable elegance of Nawabi Lucknow. The collections are poetically woven enriching the beauty in his creations . 

Announcing his theme for LFW 2013 Summer/Resort Gaurang said “Our woven collection at LFW  will reflect grandness with contemporary as well as fashion forward captivating look. We have used 12-15 meters of fabric in each of our creation which is unique.”

The creation is the outcome of collaboration of finest handloom kota weaves from Rajasthan and chic elegance of finest chikankaris of Uttar Pradesh. It took over 6 months to create the collection since the time Gaurang conceptualized the theme and design for his pre-fall summer collections.

With his unique twists to vintage Indian weaves, self taught award winning fashion designer has drawn immense admiration for his hand-woven saris, indo-western collections. He is an enormously talented designer who has produced a series of inspiring collections which include his award winning ‘Ardhangini’ collections in LFW 2012 winter fest.
